Published in 1984, this is the first edition of the hugely popular German RPG, Das Schwarze Auge (literally "The Black Eye", no pun intended. It was later in 2003 published as the 4th edition in English as "The Dark Eye").
It was translated into Dutch ("Het Oog des Meesters"), French ("L'Oeil noir") and Italian ("Uno sguardo nel buio"), but not into English.
Although an independent production, it follows the pattern of D&D, with character attributes, character classes, combat, initiative and magic.
